I “love” football season. There are really only two givens: 1) I like the Bears 2) I hate the Raiders – except when they play the Bronco’s. Outside of those two pillars that make up my love for football, I am pretty indifferent to the other teams. I base my love/hate attitude on a per game basis.
Now, as any sports fan (specifically football fan) knows, the owner of the Raiders, Al Davis fired yet another coach, Lane Kiffin, after a year and four (4) games. I am guessing it was because they failed to reach the Super Bowl on his first year. It seems that the players have to learn a new system every year to year-in-a-half. What a joke, surely the NFL could/should be able to do something! Lane Kiffin had the players competing for three quarters of the game so why is it hard to imagine that they wouldn’t start competing through all four quarters and maybe even winning some games? Seems to me that a new coach should be granted at least 3 years to get the team going and show some improvement and a reason to continue to be the coach.
So here is my idea (aka fantasy). Since Uncle Sam is desperate to buy troubled companies and the NFL won’t do anything about this joke of an owner/team then how about Uncle Sam bailout the Raiders? Normally I would say our government couldn’t improve anything that they touched, but how much worse could they possibly be running the Raiders then Al Davis? Who knows, instead of tax payers losing on a $700 billion bailout, maybe we would actually see a Raider bailout turn a profit. Who knows, I might even consider changing my second “given”!

OK, SERIOUSLY crackin up over the govt buying the Raiders! That is some FUNNY stuff!!
Dude, I just enjoy watching the Raiders shoot themselves in the foot, over and over and over….
Go Redskins! LOL
