The other side of pro-choice

I was reading the blog post “Hypocritical, Irresponsible and Seriously Profane” over at “Sacred & Profane“.  Like my last post, Heidi was talking about the Hypocrisy of pro-choice people towards those who choose to have large families.  One of the readers posted a comment that to some degree argues the “other side” of this argument.  So I thought I would offer a few thoughts regarding the readers comment.

“But, if I’m remembering correctly, you want your choice, but you don’t necessarily want to allow others their choices in the cases of abortion… No one is trying to stop you from having more children, but there are certainly people trying to stop others from having (completely legal) abortions.”

First, I am not a pro-life person who supports killing doctors or blowing up buildings.  I do believe abortions are wrong and even believe it was bad law constitutionally speaking, but I do not believe that justifies killing doctors or those seeking abortions.  And, even though I believe Roe vs. Wade was bad law, it is still currently the law as the commenter points out.

As to the claim that “No one is trying to stop you from having more children” I would say that is false.  Currently it may not be a major movement, but there is a movement and a desire by a growing group of people to limit other peoples family size.  The current trend is based mostly around the environmental movement.  I think after what we have seen our elected officials do over the last year we should all realize that the ability to regulate family size is not all that far fetched.  The health care (Obama Care) law alone gives potential power and reason to the Federal Government as well as our fellow citizens to limit family size.  Now that we all have to pay for everyone else’s health care, it will be much easier to complain about the family of 3, 5 or more.  Never mind that we actually need much larger families to support the every growing demand for Government services and mounting debt.  And lets not forget that President Obama has brought in advisers (czars)  John Holdren – Science czar, and Cass Sunstein – regulator czar, both who have been documented as proponents of the population control movement.  Mr. Holdren has gone as far as to promote population control through our food and water supply.

Now, regarding not allowing others to choose abortion I would simply like to highlight the breakdown of choice between the two points of view.  If abortion was outlawed, women would still have choice.  But, if the choice to have children or the quantity of children is regulated then there is no choice but simply the law.  So, even if you take abortion away there is still far more choice then if society or Government starts regulating women’s fertility.

  1. I am shocked that, 1.) I’m going to admit this period, and 2.) I’m going to admit this in public. {gasp}

I have always been pro-life. Always. In every circumstance really, I have always been pro-life. To me, pro-choice only comes BEFORE intercourse….as in….what contraception to use to PREVENT pregnancy in the first place (if you so choose). Any bonehead can get contraception, this is America.

    Yes, I said bonehead. LOL

However, in recent years, I have unfortunately, been introduced to some “lovely”….ummm….’ladies’ who I would rather have seen get an abortion than bring another child into this world to be abused. That’s harsh, I realize, however, when brought face to face with her other children that have been abused and DHS still doesn’t step in to intervene….well….it’s a harsh life for these children.

My first option is ALWAYS adoption rather than abortion, but unfortunately so many of these ‘ladies’ have learned the system enough to know that if they have another baby, our wonderful govt will give them MORE money. They don’t have to care for the baby, or even LIKE the baby….but just the sheer number that baby will add to their income….and out pops another one. Adoption is not the answer for these type of ‘ladies’.

I don’t care how many children you and your wife have. If anyone on this planet can do it well and lovingly, it’s you guys. And you guys even have a shot at having a normal one! HAHAHAHAHA I don’t even care if you have now or in the past received assistance…..YOU care for your children, you love your children, and you provide for them, have 10 more! Ya’ll are incredible parents!

Can we pass a law that only GOOD parents can have a lot of kids? Boneheads are not allowed to breed for govt money? Abusive parents are not allowed to have children? Stupid people are NOT allowed to pro-create? What about the last one? Possible?

    No?

Didn’t think so…..so we just whine and cry behind their backs. You guys have a few more…..I love it! I only wish I could have more. But, since I can’t, I’ll just wait until one of the “ladies” decides she just can’t stomach one more and leaves one on my doorstep. ;) That’d be nice. I take all races, all sexes, singles or multiples. HAAA!

I totally love you guys! Thanks for letting me rant a little bit when I can’t say this stuff on my own blog. LOL

While I acknowledge that anything I post as comments on someone’s blog is obviously public domain, I am bothered that my words are used without the courtesy of letting me know. heidi knows how to reach me.

Attempts to stop people from obtaining (completely legal) abortions do not stop with murdering doctors who perform abortions. Drop by any abortion provider at any time and you’ll see what I mean.

Who is in your bedroom forcing you to not have sex? Who is taking you and/or your wife into surgery to sterilize you without your consent? Provide me the bill number of any potential legislation to limit family size. No one is really trying to stop you from having more children. They may express an opinion, but as we all know, opinions aren’t laws. Not even close.

If abortion is outlawed women still have a choice? What choice? Yours? Thanks, I’ll keep my own.

Arlene, I too agree that attempts to stop people from obtaining “legal” abortions do not stop with murdering doctors. But, I am not sure why legal abortions should be protected from legal discourse. Nor do I see why women considering or wanting a legal abortion should be protected from legally considering other legal options or just legally reconsidering a legal abortion.

You also asked me who was in my bedroom forcing me to not have sex? Well, before answering that directly, I think I would like to ask you who is forcing you “to have” sex? Very few abortions are provided for women forced to have sex compared to the total number of abortions. I am somewhat amazed that society (myself included) tends to believe that we are ENTITLED to sex whenever we want without any unwanted and natural consequence. Imagine, your body is fertile for just a few days a month and yet how dare we have to suffer the consequence of a pregnancy because we didn’t want to say no.

Now, to answer your question. No one would ever force me to not have sex…because we are entitled to have sex when we want with no consequences remember? But, there are those that believe that society as a whole should not have to suffer any pregnancy you want or accept.

If you read my post then you will recall that I never claimed there was a legislative bill before congress to limit the number of children a couple could have. Nor will I try to find any potential legislation for you. However, I did give you the names of two main advisers to the President who have power to set policy, who have both stated their support for population control through Government enforced methods. The U.N. has been pushing population control in other countries for some time now and as a result have lost U.S. funding at times, so this is not a new concept. Although these are just opinions, they are opinions with power which makes them dangerous. If opinions with power were no threat then you would have no problem with a pro-life Supreme Court nominee nor would you have a problem voting for a Pro-life political candidate. But I think we both know that you would be very upset and afraid of any Pro-life person in power.

The truth of the matter is, opinions do matter which just “might” be one reason you didn’t like my post very much either.
